Grade Level Curriculum:  

·        As always we are busy bees in first grade.  This is a little summary of what we are doing in each subject:

o       Reading/Social Studies – We are learning about Historical figures and have moved on to long vowels.  We are continuing to work on reading comprehension.

o       Writing – The students have been busy working on their opinion writing.  Ask them what they are writing about!

o       Math – We are working on different forms of measurement – putting things in order by length and height and non-standard units of measurement.  Have your students’ measure things around your home with their hands and feet! 

o       Science/STEM – We have been studying magnets the last two weeks and have now moved on to our second STEM project of the year.  Over the next four weeks the students will be building magnetic race cars.
